Amazon pushes Alexa+ to all US Fire TV devices free, no Prime required

Amazon is auto-upgrading every current-generation Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Ember TV, and select Hisense and Panasonic set in the US to Alexa+, dropping the $19.99-per-month non-Prime price to zero with no app download or signup. Distribution is the move, not capability — Amazon reports Alexa+ users hold nearly twice as many Fire TV conversations as with the original Alexa, and the same non-optional push put Gemini on Google TV and AI voice on Roku. Alexa Routines, specific Ring camera moments, and advanced Home Modes still require Prime or an Alexa+ Standard subscription, making the free tier an on-ramp rather than the full product.
