Anthropic gives US K-12 teachers a free year of Claude tied to state standards

Anthropic launched Claude for Teachers, a free year of premium Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork for verified US K-12 educators who sign up by June 30, 2027, wired to Learning Commons for standards alignment across all 50 states and to curricula like OpenSciEd and Illustrative Mathematics. The bet is on teacher-facing AI over student-facing tools — where early evidence for gains is stronger — with a K-12 Data Processing Addendum built for FERPA and no training on student data. A districts-and-schools offering is still to come; today's product is individual educators only.
