Anthropic puts a separate browser inside Claude Cowork's desktop app
Anthropic built a dedicated browser into Claude Cowork's desktop app, letting Claude navigate pages, click, and type in a side panel without seeing a user's own tabs, bookmarks, or passwords. Logins import site by site from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on macOS and Firefox on Windows and Linux, with banking, email, and single sign-on left out unless explicitly added — which makes vendor portals and dashboards that have no connector automatable today. Anthropic says the same prompt-injection safeguards as Claude in Chrome apply and reduce but cannot eliminate the risk; rollout began the week of August 26 to Pro, Max, and Team, with Enterprise available now under admin controls.
