Etched's valuation doubles to $21B a month after its $10.3B round
Etched raised a $700M Series D at a $21B valuation led by Jane Street, which tested the hardware, became the first customer, and now runs Etched's first shipped rack in its own datacenter. A paying quant fund validating silicon is the signal here — it separates Etched from inference-chip startups selling roadmaps, and its two custom parts (a low-voltage prefill chip and a shared-memory interconnect for decode) target the exact stage where Nvidia's margins are fattest.

We tested the chip and are pleased with the early results. Etched's unique approach to inference delivers the precision we will need to support our most demanding workloads.

Why this matters
- → Real customer validation of custom AI silicon separates execution from roadmap
- → Targeting inference's high-margin stages where Nvidia dominance is most vulnerable
- → $21B valuation in one month signals investor conviction in chip-design approach
Silicon bet pays off
