Google makes visible watermarks optional on Gemini image, video, and music output
Google is making the visible watermark optional for its Nano Banana, Omni, and Lyria models through a Media Watermark toggle in Gemini and the Flow video editor, with Search support to follow. Labeling now rests entirely on invisible SynthID marks and C2PA metadata, and Google's new open-source Credentio library lets developers validate those content credentials locally.

We're striking a balance here between creative control and safety: while the visible watermarks are now optional, invisible SynthID watermarks and C2PA metadata are still being used for transparency.
