Google Maps adds agentic ordering, hotel booking, and ticket buying to Ask Maps

Ask Maps can now place food orders through Square, Toast, and Uber Eats, compare hotel prices and availability, and surface tickets for local shows — US-first, with checkout still handed off to the partner. Google is converting its location index into a transaction layer that sits ahead of those partners; Personal Intelligence, which reads Gmail and Calendar, ships off by default.

The launch of the new features reflects Google's ambitions to transform Google Maps from a navigation tool into an assistant that's capable of helping users complete real-world tasks.

Why this matters

  • → Google Maps becomes a transaction layer, not just navigation — food, hotels, tickets flow through its AI.
  • → Personal Intelligence (Gmail/Calendar-aware) ships off by default, user choice preserved.
  • → Agentic tasks move from search results to completed orders, collapsing friction.
