Intel puts €5B into expanding its Leixlip fab in Ireland

Intel is spending €5 billion ($5.7 billion) to upgrade its existing Leixlip fabs and add leading-edge tools, scaling output of Xeon 6 and next-gen Xeon on the Intel 3 node, with the capex program already underway this year. The spend routes advanced-node capacity into Europe — a concrete contribution to EU tech-sovereignty aims and a signal that Intel Foundry is doubling down on its most advanced non-US site, where it has now invested over €30 billion since 1989.
