Japan Earmarks Another $944M for Rapidus Ahead of 2nm Production in 2027
Japan's trade ministry will request 150 billion yen ($944 million) in the fiscal 2027 budget for another capital injection into Rapidus, aimed at strengthening the balance sheet enough that major banks will lend against it ahead of 2-nanometer mass production in 2027. It follows a 150 billion yen injection completed in June 2026 that brought total funding to roughly 425 billion yen, confirming Rapidus remains a state-underwritten bet rather than a commercially financed one.
