Nvidia backs OpenAI's Ohio data center with $1.5B and up to $105B in credit
Nvidia is investing $1.5B in SoftBank-backed SB Energy and extending up to $105B in credit for OpenAI's Ports-Pike campus near Cincinnati, becoming sole compute supplier for a site starting at 4.25 gigawatts and scaling to 8. The credit line dwarfs the equity stake by 70x — Nvidia is financing the buildout that will buy its own chips. The campus, on former uranium-enrichment land owned by the Department of Energy, also gets a $33B, 9.2-gigawatt gas plant, priced amid gas-plant construction costs that rose 66% in two years.
