Nvidia puts $3.5B into MediaTek and opens NVLink Fusion to its custom-chip customers
Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion in MediaTek and granting it NVLink Fusion access, so MediaTek-designed custom accelerators for hyperscalers plug straight into Nvidia rack-scale systems — MediaTek expects $2 billion in custom data center ASIC revenue in 2026. The move concedes the accelerator die to custom silicon while keeping Nvidia's interconnect as the standard every AI factory builds around, the same play as last week's AWS deal covering 2 million GPUs and NVLink Fusion. It also extends the circular-financing pattern of Nvidia investing in companies whose spending flows back into its own ecosystem.
