OpenAI's GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, and Codex hit general availability on Amazon Bedrock
AWS has moved OpenAI's GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, and Codex from limited preview to GA on Bedrock — completing a one-month expanded partnership — with per-token billing and no seat licenses. A developer already on Bedrock can point the OpenAI SDK at a single new base URL and route Codex inference through existing AWS IAM and compliance controls, with processing staying inside the selected region.

more than 4 million developers use Codex every week to write, refactor, debug, test, and validate code across large codebases.

Why this matters
- → Developers can now run OpenAI's frontier models directly within AWS infrastructure with regional data residency and IAM controls.
- → Per-token billing eliminates seat licenses, reducing costs for teams scaling Codex across large codebases.
- → Single base URL swap lets existing Bedrock users access GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4 without migrating their workflows.
