Sony and Warner sue Anthropic over Claude training data, naming Amodei personally

Sony Music Publishing and Warner Chappell sued Anthropic in the Northern District of California over an alleged "brazen campaign of illegally torrenting, scraping and downloading" tens of thousands of compositions to train Claude, naming Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann as defendants personally. At up to $150,000 per infringed work plus $25,000 for each stripped copyright management record, the damages scale with corpus size, and suing founders by name raises the personal cost of training-data decisions across the industry.
