SpaceX closes its $60B all-stock acquisition of Cursor

SpaceX closed its $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Cursor, converting an April model-training partnership into ownership and giving Cursor shareholders rights to 389.3 million SpaceX shares. Cursor folds into the SpaceXAI team behind Grok and onto its GPU fleet, putting the coding-agent layer and frontier compute under one owner — cheaper inference for Cursor, and one fewer independent buyer bidding for that compute.

We will have access to the largest fleet of GPUs in the world, giving us the compute to build stronger models that are also more economical to run.

Cursor

Why this matters

  • → Cursor's compute costs drop dramatically via SpaceX's GPU fleet.
  • → One company now controls both frontier coding AI and the infrastructure it runs on.
  • → Model capability gains speed when training and inference live under one roof.
