Uber takes a stake in Zipline, targeting 1M drone deliveries a day by 2029

Uber is putting an undisclosed investment into San Francisco's Zipline and adding its autonomous drones to Uber Eats, with first deliveries by the end of 2026 and a stated target of 1 million deliveries a day by the end of 2029. The move extends Uber's platform-aggregator playbook — over $10 billion committed across dozens of autonomous vehicle partners — into quick commerce, which Dara Khosrowshahi calls a bigger market than food delivery itself. Zipline closed an extended $800 million Series H at a $7.6 billion valuation, though the target rests on 5-to-10-minute fulfillment scaling from its current markets to dozens of US cities.
