Waymo and Zoox test drivers logged 25+ injuries from hard AV braking in 2024-2025

OSHA filings reviewed by TechCrunch's Sean O'Kane show Waymo and Zoox safety drivers sustained more than two dozen injuries across 2024 and 2025 from sudden autonomous braking, including whiplash that sidelined some workers for months. The real industry-wide number is unknown — other AV developers may fall outside OSHA reporting requirements — so the Bay Area's robotaxi safety record rests on data covering only part of the frontier.
