Xen forms a Safety Committee to certify its hypervisor for robots and cars
The Xen Project stood up a Safety Committee with AMD, EPAM, and Renesas as founding contributors to bring its hypervisor into IEC-61508 compliance, the standard for software in machines that can injure people. Boeing joined partly for the safety work and Ford has engaged on automotive, and the committee will maintain the shared engineering artifacts downstream vendors need for their own functional-safety certification — the path to running emergency braking, collision avoidance, and robotics workloads on partitioned Xen guests.
