Bending Spoons buys Airtable for $1.28B, down from an $11B peak
Bending Spoons is paying $1.28 billion in cash for Airtable, a company valued above $11 billion in 2021 and trading near $4 billion on secondaries this year, despite roughly $480 million in annual recurring revenue growing over 20% YoY across 500,000-plus organizations. The buyer's playbook — trim staff, streamline products, run for profit, as with Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite, and Vimeo — is now priced into 2021-era SaaS: revenue growth no longer sets the exit, the gap to the private mark does.

Why this matters
- → SaaS valuations now price in profitability, not growth alone.
- → Bending Spoons' playbook—acquire, trim, profit—is now the default exit.
- → Peak 2021 valuations ($11B) have collapsed 88% to acquisition price ($1.28B).
Growth is dead
